Encourage. Enliven. Empower.
I want to encourage empathy with the subtle energies that connect us to Nature and Spirit, enliven eyes and hearts with colorful movements on canvas, and empower souls with images that serve to remind us of our innate strength and resiliency. Sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative, but always the energy propelling a painting is encouraging, enlivening, and empowering.
I am an artist and massage therapist living in Albuquerque, NM. I moved to New Mexico from Pennsylvania in 2000 as a career change to study massage and natural healing at the NM School of Natural Therapeutics. Prior to that I was working as a truck driver for a waste oil recycling company based out of Philadelphia. While in New Mexico I have done carpentry, furniture building, designed and built custom cabinets, and designed a few remodels, as well. I have also worked as a visual artist for the Arts-In-Medicine program http://artsinmedicine.unm.edu at UNMH and the Cancer Center at Lovelace and taught chi gung at a half way house for men here in Albuquerque.
All of the work I do is inspired by my own healing journey through life. From spiritual seeking to psychotherapy and numerous forms of alternative healing practices, I have sought to heal the fractures in my own being. Art making has been a way for me to knit back together the fragmented soul and create a sense of wholeness and hope in my life. It is a way to listen deeply to my spirit and act on what I hear. It is empowerment.
It is from this place of wholeness, hope, and empowerment that I create art and that is what I offer to you.
